You are always so very thoughtful. I suppose it would not do any good to say that we did not need gifts
:) Hearing from you means much more.

Thanks so much for supporting I-House and for your inspiring message!Prayer Letter from Grandmother
Helen Harrell to my mother Virginia Calohan Harrell

August 28, 1953

Dear Virginia,

I have been thinking so much about you lately, and hoping that the heat has not been as bad as last
summer and that you all have kept well.

You seem not to be averse to me sending you some of his cousins outgrown things. I thought I put away
a little green suit, but could not find it among my things. Perhaps I sent it to you last year.

At any rate—here comes a little Jack Tar suit which I always liked, and I think Andy is about ready for it.
In putting it away, I find that the white braid became yellow, which made it look decidedly passé—So I
made bold to take it all off, and bleach it, and replace it that is why the forever perfect tailoring may not
seem up to the standard. I also made a new tie. How I would like to see dear little Andy in it. His cousins
all love his cowboy pictures, as do we all.

Our little Jonathan is now 8 months old,and such a study wholesome little man, travels all over the
house, and likes best to play with electric cords, es;ecially telephone and lamp cords, alas!

I had good outing to Corona del Mar with Constnace and family. Now they have all some month for
further vacations.

I still try my best to carry on.—but not too credibly I am afraid. Have to trim down my outside activities
—but get by somehow.

What a terrible turmoil and perplexity the world is in---and how distressing for those who do not have
“peace within.”

I hope things are going well with you, I am always so grateful for your letters. Heres to a happy birthday
celebration for you all on Sept. 6.

With love always,

Nana

Prayers for Rev. Jim Biedenhorn

Jim, a retired Methodist minister who has served in several churches here in Mississippi, Tennessee,
and Kentucky has a serious bone cancer situation that has been operated on several times. He and his
wife Claire, who is also a Methodist minister are long time friends of my family, what is left of it.
He asked me to pray for him and bless him in this time while he is trying to deal with the effects of what
is happening to his health. We know that God wants him to be well.

Jim,
May the Lord bless you for happiness and long life.

May He bless you and keep you,
Lift up His countenance upon you and be graceful unto you,
Support your soul and spirit eternally with the power of His Name
and Place Peace in High places inside of you.
